Diary of a Thin Hair Sister

I am right at the beginning of my sisterlocks 'journey' and very pleased and proud that I finally made the decision. Being a tad surprised (shocked?) at my thin hair, I thought that I would chart my progress and share my experience with a community of people both looking to start or already on their sisterlock voyage. (Do not make copies of my photos!!)

Waiting By The Phone

I'm not kidding, I am not moving from this spot until I receive an interview (or until that stray lock on the left lies flat)! I am so weary from waiting, but I am doing my best to hang on. If you are on the job market, do not look at the wiki, it is evil! Just wait patiently like I am, staring into space and taking pictures of myself in the office when I should be finshing my article and making myself more attractive to Harvard! Well, I didn't actually apply for a job at Harvard, but still, shouldn't they be calling me, saying, "Hey Helga, we saw your blog and heard that you were really smart. You know, we don't have an opening, but we would like to create a position for you." Of course I would say "no," but then, I would have an offer and I wouldn't have to worry so much about the other 30+ applications I sent out!

There are many exciting things one can do while waitiing by the phone. I have filed my nails, read a book, written an article, revised that article, counselled some friends about relationships, updated my blog, re-tightened my hair (not seen in the picture above), written a poem and two fiction stories, developed an idea for a screenplay, renewed my faith in God, plucked my eyebrows, and started all over again. So really, waiting can be quite productive. It can also teach you about the many skills you have just in case you do not have a job lined up for next year. Here are some career options:

1. sisterlock consultant (but it would be so hard for me to keep the "secret")
2. hair stylist (then I wouldn't have to have any secrets)
3. Hollywood writer (would I also have to start off by going on strike?)
4. cultural commentator (hey, why can't I make my blog my platform into the spotlight a la Perez H.?)
5. world traveller (I promise to post pictures and make comments about what I've done and seen)
6. babysitter (I have lots of experience with my own child!)
7. assisstant professor (oh, this was the list of alternatives)
8. benefactress (any takers?)
9. (see, already out of ideas)

Well, I guess I will continue to wait....

Yuck. Waiting stinks. It's good you have a sense of humor about it. And you look great!

Do call me, Lexus Prefect, I always appreciate it!

B: I've got to laugh to keep from crying. And yes, the make-up helps one to wait with more dignity ;-)
